The Hanoi Corner
The Hanoi Corner is the first bahn mi shop I’ve tried on Commercial Drive proper so far. Lets see how it measures up
The Components
Bread
The bread was surprisingly fresh, and warm. A good start.
Veg
The veg was actually a standout for me. The seasoning was excellent, maybe they added some additional spices, let it sit for longer, or something else entirely. In any case, it was good. Jalapeno (optional) was very spicey, but this was not unwelcomed. Cilantro included.
Spread
The mayo was good, but there was no pate. Perhaps I ordered a sandwich that didn’t come with it, or they don’t have it. In any case, the spread was fine.
Meat
The meat was fantastic. I found myself eating tiny pieces that fell to the plate before I stood up to leave, a good sign.
Overall Impression
The Hanoi Corner had friendly service, a clean interior, good seating, good service, and nice presentation. I’d easily recommend this to anyone looking for a bahn mi spot on Commercial Drive.
Recommendation
I’d easily recommend this to anyone looking for a bahn mi spot on Commercial Drive. So far, I feel like this deserves second or third in my rankings. Well done.
