Saigon Bites - Renfrew

Two days in a row! Today’s bánh mì is from Saigon Bites Renfrew.

The Components

Bread

The bread was crisp on the outside, and pretty average on the inside as far as softness goes. Nothing to write home about.

Veg

They’ve got cucumber, carrot, daikon, cilantro, and jalapeno. I thought the seasoning of the pickling solution left a bit to be desired, but the veg was fresh.

Spread

Mayo - it’s mayo alright.

Pate - I thought the pate was a bit thin for my liking, but there was enough of it to taste.

Meat

I ordered the pork belly bánh mì, which came in a deli-meat style. It was better than other pork belly bánh mì I’ve ordered, so they get good marks on that front.

Overall Impression

Very clean interior, friendly service, and a decent sandwich.

Recommendation

It’s bánh mì alright, but nothing special. If you’re in the area, don’t be afraid to stop by for a sandwich, just don’t go getting your hopes up.
